History
of the Trust

All for the Love
of Community

As a banker and community leader, R.B. Price II spent his career providing sound financial advice and services to businesses and individuals throughout Boone County. Those who knew him spoke often of his generosity; his reputation for civic-minded ideals was well known. More than anything, R.B. made it clear that giving back to the community that had given him so much would be his legacy. Which is why, in 1974, he established the Boone County Community Trust.

R.B.’s initial investment of $650,000 created a fund that would become a living, growing and perpetual source of funding with the sole focus on benefiting those in need throughout Boone County. That’s because he understood these charitable, selfless organizations were truly giving all they had to better the community. With his initial board of directors in place and Boone County National Bank serving as the investment and distribution arm of the trust, R.B. got to work and immediately began to distribute the first of many biannual grants to come.

The true testament to R.B.’s vision lies not only in the stories of the organizations the Boone County Community Trust has been able to help but also in our continued success to grow that initial investment to more than $4 million — while continuing to fund numerous grant requests each year. And today, with five board members now serving, including R.B.’s great nephew R.B. Price III, our commitment to serving the people who uplift Boone County has continued to flourish.

What the Future Holds

With 50 years of service behind us, we know it’s important to look towards the future. There is always more to do. People still need help and worthy organizations continue to bring good to Boone County. Which is why, with 100% of the yearly income generated by the Trust’s earnings, it’s more important than ever for us to grow our abilities to help. It’s the contributions we’re gifted each year that allow us to do that.

By adding to the Trust, either through an individual gift, qualified charitable distribution (QCD) or estate planning, you’re adding to the prosperity of Boone County and its people. We have many ways you can give and help us build on the legacy of hope and community we’re honored to be the stewards of. Please visit the Contribute page if you would like to help make a difference in Boone County.
